Sunflowers, wind and little girls...

Anyone who knows me, knows that I LOVE sunflowers! Especially the variety with the big brown centers. I also love wind. That may sound strange but as children, my brother and sisters and I would wrangle for the window seat as we left grandma's house just to feel the wind on our face all the way home. The cool wind would lull me to sleep, especially after dark. That's also one of the reason's I adore the ocean. There is always an ocean breeze.

As an illustrator, I seem to always be sketching little girls. I'm sure that has something to do with the fact that my only child is a daughter and a perfect one, at that! :) Yes, I am truly blessed.

Anyway, all this to say...as artists we really are influenced in our art by our life's journey and what surrounds us and what is near and dear to our hearts.

Sunflowers, art and stuff

I am crazy about sunflowers and in the very beginning of cooler Fall weather wild sunflowers bloom everywhere along the roads and in the fields here in Missouri.

I was really excited to sell my first original watercolor on Etsy this week. I've also decided to add the print for sale here.

Cassie helped me with my photo shoot. She still needs to work on staying still so this was the best one of the bunch...oh well.

I also added a new set of boxed Holiday cards to the shop.

Back from the woods

I am back from the cabin in the woods where there was no cable, no internet and no cell coverage...it was GREAT!!

Here are a few photos I took. I discovered a new flower! It is a passion flower or Maypop found in the Southern region of Missouri. It is a very complex and beautiful flower. Here are a couple photos of it along with a few others I took on my walks.

I am renewed and ready to create! Ok, back to the studio to make stuff!

Is that a hint of Fall I feel in the air?

After the hottest and driest summer on record, I am SO ready for cooler temps and today's cloudy day with 70 degree temps reminds me why Fall is my favorite time of year! It's almost time!

I love everything about Fall...the sunflowers that bloom, apple pickin' time, the migration of the Monarch butterflies, Halloween. What's not to like? :)
