Playing around with washes

I was having fun playing around with watercolor washes on some old scraps of student-grade watercolor paper. I always feel so much looser painting on this old stuff because when I go to paint on the good watercolor paper, I instantly start tightening up thinking about how much each piece is costing me if I mess it up.

I know it shows a lot of texture because of the grade of paper but I actually thought the texture was kinda cool.

I really like it. Nice and loose, like you said. I have been playing more with watercolor paper, too. I am like you, though...scared to mess up the good stuff so I use paper I really shouldn't. I'm going to treat myself to some decent paper for Christmas. : )

I love them Phyllis, they are beautiful and soft. I do like the texture of the cold watercolor paper peeking through too!

Very cool! Indeed. The pigment roam freely and happily... It shows it's own personalities... tighten or loose... love both...

These are great!

I am the same way about good paper. Maybe we should learn to use the cheap stuff to our benefit! :P
